Is the flower of the nail a symptom of any disease?
Nails are an important part of the body. Nails are made up of the alpha-carotene protein, whose main function is to protect the underlying skin. Fingernails are the sign of many diseases. For this reason, doctors often look at the nails during patient examinations. Various diseases change the color, shape and nature of nails. Such changes in nails should be taken seriously. One such nail problem is milk spot. This is the nail flower in white Bengal. White spots on the nails worry many people, but in most cases there is nothing to worry about. Again, the common idea is that the lack of calcium causes white spots on the nails. That's not entirely true either.
In medical science, the name of white spots on nails or nail flowers is 'punctate leukonychia' There are some reasons behind this. Let's find out the reasons-
Injury/Manicure
Most of the time these scars are caused by trauma. This can be caused by constantly scratching or making noises on the table with the nails, cutting the nails with the teeth, opening the mouth of the tin with the nails, etc. Such damage can also occur during manicures, especially if care is not taken when manicuring with sharp tools. Too frequent manicures can also cause nail damage. These stains can be caused by an allergic reaction to the manicure gel or acrylic.Fungal infection
Another common cause of white spots on nails is fungus. The risk of fungal infection increases in warm and humid environments. Germs from the environment can enter through small cracks in the nail or surrounding skin, and even from nail clippers. Other signs of a fungal infection are cracked nails, thickening of nails, or yellow or brown discoloration. Treatment consists of antifungal drugs. Complete healing may take several months.
Mineral deficiency
The nail plate is made up of different nutrients in specific proportions. Therefore, nutritional deficiency can affect the nails. Lack of minerals like calcium, selenium, zinc can cause white spots on the nails. However, there is controversy about this. Other symptoms of mineral deficiency are: dry skin, brittle nails, muscle aches, hair loss, memory loss, frequent infections like the common cold, loss of appetite. Nail Care
1. Keep nails moist. Wash feet and hands thoroughly and dry completely. Cuticle oil is very useful in this case.
2. Avoid biting your nails or picking anything with your nails.
3. Change socks daily. Use shoes that are breathable and not too tight. Or it could be a fungal infection.
4. Sterilize and use nail clippers. Everyone should use a different nail clipper.
5. Avoid using nail polish, glue etc. if allergic. Avoid gel or acrylic manicure for a few days.
6. Develop a diet rich in vitamins, minerals, fatty acids; Eat fish, eggs, lean meat, nuts, green vegetables and fruits regularly.
